Imprint locations - special considerations

Location	Notes
Full Front for Hoodies	The pocket size on the front of hoodies varies from batch to batch. We will size your imprint to fit the general shape of the hoodie front in the proofing process. If the garments come in with a smaller imprint area available, our production staff will contact you before production begins to make any necessary adjustments.
Left and Right side imprints	Left chest indicates left chest as worn. That means that the imprint will be located on the left chest of the shirt as experienced by the person wearing the shirt. The same is true for right side, left leg, right leg, etc. Note that some garments are too small to carry a left chest imprint well. Youth sizes (smaller than youth large) and ladies spaghetti strap tops and tanks are good examples. We recommend printing these garments on the center front instead of trying a left chest imprint. If you place an order that contains both adult and youth garments (smaller than YL) that will be printed on the left chest area, we must set up a separate screen to accommodate the youth-sized shirts. You can choose whether this screen will imprint the small shirts on the left chest or in the center of the garment. We recommend printing on the center of the small shirts instead of on the left chest. Our customer service department will add the additional screen setup charges to your order before you approve your proof and make payment.
Pocket Prints	Please indicate whether you want your design printed above or on the pocket when ordering pocketed t-shirts
Back of hoodies	We try to place the back imprint on hoodies low enough so that the hood does not cover the print when it is down. If you require a specific placement of the design, please make a note of the placement in the comments box. Measure from the bottom of the hood where it is sewn to the garment down to the area where you want us to print the top of your design, and specify these dimensions in the comment box when you place your order. If no specification is made, we will determine the placement.
Sleeves	Left sleeve indicates left sleeve as worn. That means that the imprint will be located on the left sleeve of the garment as experienced by the person wearing the shirt. The same is true for right sleeve, etc. Sleeve imprints may be stacked or lined (this link will open a box that shows stacked and lined options for sleeves). Please indicate your preference in the comments box when you place your order. If no preference is indicated, we will print the design lined.
Legs	Left leg indicates left leg as worn. That means that the imprint will be located on the left leg of the garment as experienced by the person wearing the shirt. The same is true for right leg, etc. A leg imprint is on the outside area of the leg, where the outer seam of your jeans would typically be. Pocketed sweatpants may not be printed in the leg area, but have to be printed on the thigh area. If you have a preference, please be sure to specify the number of inches you want your design to begin down from the waist band. If no preference is specified, our production staff will determine the placement. Leg imprints may be stacked or lined (this link will open a box that shows stacked and lined options for legs). Please indicate your preference in the comments box when you place your order. If no preference is indicated, we will print the design lined.
Thigh	Left thigh indicates left thigh as worn. That means that the imprint will be located on the left thigh of the garment as experienced by the person wearing the shirt. The same is true for right thigh, etc. A thigh imprint (this link goes to the same picture as the link below) is on the front area of the leg of the garment. If you have a preference, please be sure to specify the number of inches you want your design to begin down from the waist band. If no preference is specified, our production staff will determine the placement. Thigh imprints may be stacked or lined (this link will open a box that shows stacked and lined options for thighs). Please indicate your preference in the comments box when you place your order. If no preference is indicated, we will print the design lined.
Caps	Cap backs cannot be screen printed. We offer embroidery on the cap back if the front is also embroidered or left blank. Adjustable caps must be embroidered with an arch over the adjustable area. Flex fit caps can be embroidered straight across the back.
Hoods	We can imprint single-layer hoods with one color of ink (we do not offer an underbase for opacity on hoods).

Imprint sizes for Screen Printed Garments

Below is a chart showing our standard imprint size for each location using the screen print process as well as the maximum imprint possible. If you do not specify an imprint size when you place your order, we will lay out the art to fit our standard imprint size for the smallest shirt in your order. If you provide print-ready art files, we will print the file at the size you send it to us if it fits our standard imprint sizes or we will reduce the file to fit.

If you need oversized printing, just let your customer service representative know, and we will be happy to quote production at a larger size.

Note that all imprints must fit on the shirt sizes that you have selected, and the chart below is a guideline for average garment sizes. For example, if you order a garment with a sleeve too small to hold the standard imprint size, we will let you know so that we can adjust your imprint accordingly.

Special note for T-Shirts: The Gildan brand t-shirts can fit up to 12" wide on sizes Youth Small through all adult sizes. All other brands must follow the imprint size chart below.

*Hoodies may have a shorter front space available due to the pocket area. We will measure your garments when they arrive at the shop and let you know if we need to adjust the imprint size before production begins.

Screens will be sized to fit the smallest shirt in the order

Gildan Brand T-Shirts sizes youth small through all adult sizes: The Gildan Brand T-Shirts are generously cut, so the youth small shirts are printable at 12" wide. We are able to print these sizes with the same screen. Note that these shirts are hand-made, so some variance in size is possible. If for some reason the shirts come in cut too small to fit on the adult-sized press, the information below regarding separate screens will apply.

All other brands: If you are printing an order that contains Youth Small shirts as well as Adult Extra Large shirts, the screens must be sized to fit the Youth Small shirts. In this case, all shirts in the order would be printed with the 9" x 9" design, since that is the maximum size that can fit on the Youth Small shirts (see chart above).

We are happy to set up the adult-sized garments to print at the standard adult size imprint while the youth-sized garments print at the smaller size. In most cases, we can still give you the quantity discount for the total number of shirts in your order. There is a fee for setting up each additional screen, and our customer service department will add this charge to your order before you approve and pay. Please be sure to make a note of this requirement in the comments box when you place your order.

Flats

Garments can be embroidered at up to 10.5" wide if space on the garment allows. Left chest embroidery is generally 3.5" wide.

Oversized Prints

Berda.com offers oversized and all-over printing. Oversized screens are up to 17" wide and 21" tall. All-over printing allows for the design to run off the edges of the garment. Please contact our customer service department for a quote on these services.

Raglan Sleeves

Raglan Sleeves are sleeves that are sewn all the way to the collar band of the garment. This type of sleeve is great for sportswear and uniforms as it adds to mobility of the athlete. The down side is that raglan sleeves interfere with the imprint area of the front and back of the garment.

Each batch of shirts is sewn by hand and shipped to us from the manufacturer. Because of the hand-sewn nature of the garments, the front/back imprint areas vary slightly from run to run. Here are your options for sizing your imprint on garments with raglan sleeves:

1. If you prefer the standard imprint size for your shirt sizes (see chart below), we can move the print down lower than the normal 3" from the collar so it is out of the way of the raglan sleeves. Many customers prefer this option.

2. If you prefer your imprint be the standard 3" down from the collar, we will measure the smallest shirt in your order once we receive the garments and we will size your screen accordingly. If you choose this option, your imprint may be up to 4" smaller than the maxiumum imprint size shown below (usually the imprint will be only 2" smaller, but we cannot guarantee this until we measure the garments that come in for your order).

If you don't indicate a preference, we will make the imprint the standard size and move the imprint down so that the raglan sleeves do not interfere with the imprint. We will not resize your print-ready files unless you request a size change.
